One of the avenues Kingston College used to win their 32nd ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys' Championships title was to outscore their rivals in the hurdling events, as they did during their six-year title streak during the 2000s.

The North Street-based institution had acquired Rahnsomn Edwards to carry out the task and the former St Jago High School coach delivered the goods at the 2019 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships.

This as 'The Purples' tallied 64 points, while arch-rivals Calabar High School only managed to score to 16.

KC's tally in the hurdling events is also way more significant than the 15 they scored last year.

And Romel Plummer, the Class One 400m hurdles champion, believes all of the credit should go to his coach.

"He (Edwards) is the best coach an athlete could have asked for," Plummer said. "He worked with us to ensure that we get everything correct."

Rayon Campbell, who finished second in the Class Two 400m hurdles, was also full of praise for Edwards.

"We knew that we had to believe in what he was saying to us for it to work, and that is why we got so many points," Campbell said.

KC won all the obstacle events, except for the Class Two 110m hurdles.

They also mentioned to score maximum points in three of those events as Wayne Pinnock and Akeem Cargill in the Class One sprint hurdles, Ra'John Gray and Amontae Wray in the Class Three 100m hurdles, and Jayden Brown and Campbell in the Class Two 400m hurdles finished first and second in their respective events.
