Three 19-year-olds charged after truck vandalised in Portmore
Three 19-year-old men have been charged following a break-in and damage to a motor truck at a house in Portmore, St Catherine.
Charged are Michael Douglas, an electrician of Zacky Avenue, Kingston 14; Shaquille Reid, otherwise called 'Paul', a bus conductor; and Anthony Thompson, otherwise called 'Biggs', both of Tangerine Road, Kingston 12.
Reports from the police are that about 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, the three men allegedly went to a man's home on Ewart Crescent and broke the rear window of his motor truck.
A relative reportedly alerted the homeowner, who then contacted the police.
Upon arrival, lawmen are said to have found the three men inside the vehicle.
They were apprehended and taken into custody.
Investigators allege that the men also damaged a sound system, two speaker boxes, and two tweeter boxes.
According to the police, the total value of the damage is estimated at $1.34 million.
The accused were subsequently charged with simple larceny and malicious destruction of property following a question-and-answer session and caution statements recorded in the presence of their attorneys.
A court date is being finalised.
